Construction Has Begun!
We’re thrilled to share that construction has officially begun at Shaker Ridge Trails! On May 26th, trail crews broke ground on the very first section of what will ultimately become a 100+ mile network of purpose-built, sustainably designed trails.
Since then, we’ve been hard at work, and we’re quickly closing in on our first mile of finished trail. This initial phase includes both a hand built, technical descent, and a machine-built, bi-directional trail—offering a glimpse into the range of experiences Shaker Ridge will eventually provide, from flowy cross-country to technical singletrack and everything in between.
It hasn’t been without challenges—Mother Nature has kept us on our toes with everything from heavy downpours to extreme heat and humidity—but our trail builders are making steady progress, and the terrain is proving to be every bit as promising as we hoped.
In the coming weeks, we’ll be announcing our first volunteer trail work days, so if you’ve been eager to get involved, stay tuned! These community events will be a great way to contribute directly to the project, learn more about sustainable trail design, and help shape the future of outdoor recreation in the Berkshires.
We’re just getting started—but it’s already starting to feel real out here.
See you on the trails soon!
