About
Shaker Ridge Trails is a transformative outdoor recreation project in the Berkshires, designed to create a best-in-class network of sustainably built, mountain bike–optimized trails.
At completion, the Shaker Ridge Trails network will include more than 100 miles of thoughtfully designed trails, beginning with a 30-mile Phase I currently under construction. The trail system is being built by leading professional trail contractors and is guided by modern design principles that emphasize sustainability, safety, progression, and longevity. A core goal of the project is inclusivity: Shaker Ridge will feature one of the first adaptive mountain bike trail networks in Massachusetts, creating meaningful access to outdoor recreation for riders of all abilities.
Shaker Ridge is intended to serve as a regional hub for healthy living, outdoor education, and economic vitality. The project supports local businesses, strengthens the Berkshires’ appeal as a destination for outdoor recreation, and contributes to making the region a more attractive place for young professionals and families to live, work, and stay. Free and open to the public, Shaker Ridge Trails reflects a belief that high-quality outdoor infrastructure is essential to the long-term health, resilience, and vibrancy of Berkshire County.
Vision
To establish the Berkshires as a premier destination for world-class, inclusive, and sustainable trails—where people of all ages and abilities can connect with nature, community, and adventure year-round.
