Berkshire County’s abundance of conserved public land combined with a professional, methodical approach to constructing well designed, quality trails will serve to transition the region’s mountain biking experience from its current haphazard and disjointed state to one worthy of destination status.

About

In fall of 2023, a Shaker Ridge Trail collaborative was formed with the objective of creating a purpose-built, mountain bike trail network in the Berkshire-Taconic region. This project aims to fill a gap in the outdoor recreational landscape by providing a centralized hub for high quality, mountain bike optimized trails in the northeast.

The proposed trail network, a few miles from the New York border, is located in the towns of Hancock and Lanesborough, Massachusetts, adjacent to the Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort. Shaker Ridge Trails will provide free access to 25+ miles of professionally constructed trails and will provide free access to mountain bikers of all ages and abilities.

Once complete, the Shaker Ridge Trails network will bring tourism revenue to the region, and can help improve recreational opportunities for all who live, work or visit the region.
